Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to your CV and your details when you use FixMyCV. We have written it to describe what the tool actually does, not what sounds best.

Your CV is scored on your own device
The scoring engine and the CV rebuilder run inside your browser. Your CV is not sent anywhere to be graded — the score and the one-page rebuild are produced on your device.
To be completely clear about what does leave your device: when you use the tool, your details and a copy of your CV are sent to SSEI so our counsellors can help you — that is described in full below. To read your file accurately, an image of the page may be sent once to a no-retention AI reading service — see "When an AI helps read your CV" below. If your CV is a scan or a photograph, the page also downloads a text-recognition library from a public code network (jsDelivr) so it can read the image. Nothing about your CV is sent to that network — only the library comes back.
When an AI helps read your CV
Reading a CV file accurately is hard, so the tool may use an AI in two ways — both only for reading, never for scoring or writing anything about you:
1 · Reading the page as an image. When you upload a PDF or photo, an image of your CV is sent once to an AI service (via OpenRouter) that reads it the way a person would — this is what stops two-column and designed templates being scrambled. This happens for most CVs, not only difficult ones — it is the standard first read for every CV uploaded as a file. We restrict that request to providers that contractually do not log, store or train on what we send; if no such provider is available the request is not made at all. The AI is instructed to transcribe only what is printed, and an automatic check discards any result that adds or drops your words.
2 · Tidying jumbled text. If the image read is unavailable and the text comes out of the reader jumbled, the text is sent once to the same service, under the same no-retention restriction, whose only job is to put your own lines back in order. The same automatic check rejects any result containing a word that was not already in your CV.
If either step is unavailable or fails its check, the tool simply falls back to reading the CV on your device.
If you import your LinkedIn profile
You can paste your LinkedIn profile link instead of uploading a CV. When you do, our server fetches your public LinkedIn profile through a third-party profile-data provider and converts it into CV text, which is then treated exactly like a CV you pasted yourself — including everything on this page. We fetch only what your profile already shows publicly, only when you paste your own link and press Import. If your profile is private or cannot be fetched, nothing is retrieved and the tool shows you how to use LinkedIn's own "Save to PDF" export instead.
What we collect
Everything here comes from what you type or upload, plus basic technical information your browser provides:
| You give us | Your name, email address, mobile number, qualification track (CA, CFA, FRM, CMA, CPA/ACCA, MBA, B.Com and similar), the roles you are targeting, your experience level, and whether you are applying for an internship or a full-time role |
|---|---|
| Your documents | The CV file you upload or the CV text you paste, and the one-page CV our tool rebuilds for you |
| If you use it | The requirements our tool extracts from any job description you paste in. The job description itself stays on your device and is never sent to us |
| If you use it | Your LinkedIn profile link, and the public profile content our provider returns for it — which then becomes your CV text and is handled like one |
| Results | Your scores, score band, percentile, keyword coverage and the specific fixes we suggested |
| Technical | Device type and operating system (for example "Mobile · iPhone"), the full web address you arrived on including any campaign tags, whether you uploaded a CV or built one from scratch, the version of our scoring engine, and the timestamp of each step |
| If something fails | If our tool cannot rebuild your CV, we record the technical reason (which can include short fragments of your CV text) so we can fix it. If a request to our server fails, an error log may briefly hold the content of that request. |
We do not ask for, and you should not include, financial account details, government identity numbers, health information or anything similar. If your CV happens to contain such details, please remove them before uploading.
Where it is stored
In SSEI's own Google Workspace account: your details in a private Google Sheet, and your CV files in a private Google Drive folder. Both are restricted to SSEI staff who need access. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own security terms.
What is stored on your own device
FixMyCV uses no advertising or tracking cookies. It does keep a small queue in your browser's local storage so that if your connection drops mid-way, your results still reach us when you come back. That queue can briefly contain your name, email and mobile number.
Each item is removed as soon as it reaches us. If you press "Check another CV", anything still waiting has your name, email, mobile, the rebuilt CV and any quoted lines from your CV erased on the spot — only the scores stay, so the delivery can still complete. If you are on a shared or public computer, clear your browser data before you walk away to be certain nothing is left behind.
Why we keep it
- To score your CV and rebuild it as a one-page document for you
- To email you your report or your rebuilt CV — only if you press one of the email buttons. We do not email you automatically
- So an SSEI counsellor can give you specific, useful advice about your CV rather than a generic script
- To recommend SSEI programmes that are genuinely relevant to the gap between your qualification and the role you want
- In aggregate and without naming anyone, to understand which roles students target and where CVs commonly fall short, so we can improve the tool and our teaching
How long we keep it
36 months from your last activity, after which it is deleted or stripped of anything identifying you. This period is chosen because a CA, CFA or FRM journey commonly runs across two to three years and students return to us at different stages of it. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your data to anyone
- We never share your CV outside SSEI
- We never publish your CV, quote it, or use it as an example — even anonymously
- We never pass your details to recruiters or employers
Your rights
Email vidyut.kauntia@ssei.co.in from the address you used, and you may:
- Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy
- Have anything inaccurate corrected
- Have your CV and your details deleted
- Withdraw your consent to our holding them at all
- Ask us not to contact you again
We will respond within 7 working days. You do not need to give a reason, and asking will never affect any SSEI course you have bought or are studying.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
FixMyCV is meant for students and working professionals aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please use it only with a parent or guardian's involvement.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the tool itself.
In one sentence: your CV is scored on your own device (an AI only ever re-orders a jumbled layout, never invents), we keep a copy so we can actually help you, we never sell or share it, and you can have it deleted any time by emailing us.
